I went to the grocery the other day
with my mother to buy food and drinks for an upcoming party. I was in charge of
the beverages and so, I wanted to buy assorted sodas or soft drinks. I went and
bought regular Coke and Coke Zero.
I never liked the taste of Coke
Zero but I always wondered how a soda, a junk food, could possibly contain
absolutely no sugar nor calories. I was pretty sure it was still unhealthy. I researched
in the internet the different ingredients it contained.
First of all, Coke Zero is a soda
with zero sugar, salt, calories and anything that can make people obese which
can also lead to diabetes. It is a direct alternative for regular soda (like
regular coke) for people who likes to go on diets or who are very concerned
with their weight.
In this blog, I would like to show
and explain some deceptions and deceptive advertising that Coca-Cola have with
their product Coke zero.
Now, Coke Zero in their advertisements
and labels like mentioned before, claim that they have no sugar, calories, fat,
saturates and salt.
After some research on the ingredients
in the soda, I found Great Britain’s Coca Cola website with their information
on Coke Zero.
Bases on the website or even, based on the company itself, there is a 0.5 calorie in 150ml and 200ml of coke zero. In 250ml and 330ml of coke zero, there is 1 calorie.
In 375ml of coke zero, there is 1 calorie and .1 gram of salt.
In 485ml of coke, there is 1.5 calories and .1 gram of salt.
Mentioning and listing how much calories per amount of coke zero is useless because coke zero is supposed to have zero calories. We actually only needed the first data as proof. The size doesn't matter because it claims it has zero calories.
It's as if the company is actually revealing and telling the world that coke zero is actually not 100% true with their very own website. They are playing with their words.
Coke Zero like other sodas still gives a smaller amount of weight gain. The Coca-Cola company is giving false and deceptive advertising for coke zero.
Because of this, people concerned with their weight or people with diabetes who actually thought that this will not affect themselves will actually experience small weight gain. This is bad because if these people consumed a lot of this thinking they aren't affected, they can even experience a large weight gain and may worsen their diabetes or obesity.
Though no sugars are contained in coke zero, it actually contains artificial sweeteners such as aspartame. These sweeteners make you want more sugars which makes you eat more which then results to actual more sugars and calories.

Another deception that I thought of from coke zero was the actual taste. They claim that coke zero tastes just like the regular one. In my opinion, this does not at all taste like the regular one which is why I prefer the later one. Many people in the internet, including my friends also say that this does not taste like the original one but some people think opposite. Of course this is just opinion based. Coke Zero should not claim that it taste like the original one anymore or maybe should make a survey on its taste.
Overall, this blog has shown some deceptions on the "no calorie" Coke Zero. People should learn from this and be more aware about the products we buy. Also, companies should really tell the truth about their product because people are often misleaded and do not get what they want or thought they would gain.
